The
Scientific Committee encourages all participants to send scientific papers to
XXX FIMS Sports Medicine World Congress of International Federation of Sports
Medicine (FIMS).
The Congress Topics are listed here:
- Sports Medicine.
- Training and performance improvement.
- Biomechanics.
- Sports cardiology.
- Exercise physiology.
- Nutrition and sports supplementation.
- Kinanthropometry.
- Genetics and molecular biology.
- Diagnostics, management and treatment of sports injuries.
- Sports injuries prevention.
- Management and treatment of illness through physical exercise.
- Health improvement and aging delay through physical activity.
- Athlete’s care.
- Doping.
- Imaging Diagnostics in Sports Medicine.
Oral
communications will be distributed in panels of the Congress Topics. Please
select one topic of the list as an offer for doing your presentation. The
Scientific Committee may reassign the abstract in other Congress topic.
The works
shall be original and not been presented in previous congresses or similar
meetings.
The
scientific communications admitted, oral communications and posters, will be
published in the Archivos de Medicina del
Deporte review.

Sending and presentation language
The scientific communications, oral communications
(PowerPoint presentation text) and posters presentation will be done in
English. The oral communications reading may be done in English and Spanish in
separate communications sessions.

Abstract
submission rules
Please pay
attention to the following rules for your scientific communication (oral
communication or poster) abstract preparation, because they are mandatory:
- The final deadline for
scientific works sending will be the 15th September 2008.
- The Scientific Communication
will be sent to the Scientific Committee Chairman, with the form properly
filled in, to the following e-mail address: fims2008@femede.es.
- The abstract shall have a clear
relationship to the XXX FIMS Sports Medicine World Congress contents and definitively to Medicine and Sports Science.
- The Scientific Committee shall send
the presented work to the mean of presentation (oral communication or
poster) which will be considered most appropriate to the type and contents
of it.
- The Scientific Committee has
the right to reject the works that don’t fulfill the previously indicated
requirements by the quality and theme the scientific event requires.

Instructions
for abstracts submission
- Only the papers submitted in
electronic form will be accepted. This format may be found in
htpp://www.femede.es.
- Títtle: The tittle must be brief (up to 15 words) and specific. It has to
reflect the paper content and not to include abbreviations. It will be
written in arial 12 points capital letters.
- Authors: The surname will be written
in lower case letters followed by the initial of the name (without comma
after the surname). The authors will be separated by comma.
- Worksplace: The workplace for every
author must be indicated. If there are several centres, they will be
identified with a number.
- Preference for presentation: The
author will mark the kind of presentation preferred for the paper.
- Text: The maximal length for the text is 300 words or 3000 characters,
and it will be written with an arial 10 points lower case letter. Non
explained abbreviations will be avoided. The abstract will not repeat the
title and it have to adjust to the following outline: introduction,
methods, results and conclusions.
- Tables, figures and images may
be included respecting the maximal length of the text.
- Three key words are required at least.
- The abstracts have to include specific information about the
results and conclusions of the investigation. Abstracts with expressions
such as “results will be discussed” will not be accepted.

| Notification
of papers receipt
In a 15 days
period you will receive a notification confirming the reception of your
abstract. If not, you have to send your paper again with an electronic message
to fims2008@femede.es.
Scientific communication responsible person inscription
- Each person can present two
scientific communications at the most (oral communication or poster). In
case both are accepted, only one of them may be presented as an oral
communication.
- Authors which are presenting a
scientific communication (oral communication or poster) and have been accepted must have been
registered and have paid the Congress inscription fees before the 18th October 2008. In other case their scientific communication
(oral communication or poster) will be removed
from the program and the abstracts book.

Oral communication presentation
- Oral communications will have 8
minutes of presentation. At the end of each session there will be a question
turn.
- All oral communications will be
done in PowerPoint format, and
shall be given to the organization Communications responsible the previous
day to its presentation.
- Number of slides of the
PowerPoint presentation is limited
to 12.

Poster presentation
If your
abstract is accepted but not as oral communication, we suggest you to present
it as a poster. In due time, information for poster presentation will be
available.

Certifications
After the
oral or poster presentation, we will deliver a certificate to the person
in charge.
Publication of scientific papers
The
scientific papers abstracts (oral communications and poster) accepted and presented in the XXX World
Congress of Sports Medicine will be published in the journal Archives of Sports
Medicine (Archivos de Medicina del
Deporte), scientific publication of the speciality of Sports Medicine and
official journal of Spanish Federation of Sports Medicine, which is published
every two months and has been published during 25 years now. |
